The Edzard Reuter estate
In the Edzard Reuter (1928–2024) estate, the Foundation safeguards a valuable collection of writings that offer a fascinating insight into the life of a leading German executive. Alongside documents pertaining to his professional career, which took him to the highest position with Daimler-Benz AG (1987–1995), the estate also contains important materials regarding his family background, his childhood and adolescence in Turkey (1935–1946), and his wide-ranging social commitment. In addition, it contains a large part of his father’s private library. Access to the estate is subject to restrictions on use.
The historian Bernhard Dietz has written an essay on Edzard Reuter for the Ernst Reuter Archive Foundation. In it, Dietz focuses not only on Reuter’s childhood and his relationship with his father Ernst, but also, in particular, on his time at Daimler-Benz and his work in Berlin. You can find the essay here.
